What We Do
Legal Literacy Building
Raising awareness of pressing social issues like immigration, prison reform, educational inequality, and voting rights through a legal framework. We facilitate discussions, debates, and court-watching programs in partnership with local advocacy groups to help students understand how legal education can address systemic inequities.
Rights Workshops
Hands-on know-your-rights trainings that teach students how to protect themselves, friends, and family. Topics include tenant rights, Fourth and Fifth Amendment protections when encountering law enforcement, immigration rights, freedom of speech on college campuses, and workplace rights.
Philanthropic Service
Legal knowledge should not exist in isolation from the communities it affects. Through direct community engagement with non-profit and grassroots organizations, LEAP empowers students to assist community members through volunteer engagement, collaborative agency, and service-learning projects.
Speaker Events
LEAP hosts panels and lectures featuring legal professionals, activists, scholars, and community leaders who are driving change through the law. These events bridge theory and practice by inviting students to engage with experts in justice-related fields.
Charitable Giving
We believe that advocacy must be accompanied by material support. LEAP raises funds to support legal aid organizations and mutual aid efforts in Cook County and our broader community through organized fundraising efforts and charitable initiatives.
